Wednesdays in the Word–James 1:2-4

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. ~James 1:2-4

Wednesdays in the Word

As the new year has begun, I find myself “camped out” in the book of James. A short book of only five chapters, yet I have spent the last five days in Chapter 1, and I’ll probably be there at least another five.

It is that rich…  and deep…  and applicable.

I’m currently walking through a trial that has pushed me out of my comfort zone. Several months ago, my husband and I were praying and asking the Lord to allow us to serve Him through our home. He answered that prayer almost immediately, but the way He answered it was NOT what we had in mind.

I’m an introvert by nature, and now, I am surrounded by people almost all. of. the. time.

He has shown me (and continues to show me) what it truly means to serve others.

Many days have been a struggle. A few days have seen me being selfish and prideful. Once or twice, I’ve thrown a tantrum.

He continues to expose my heart.

I am learning to be faithful.

I am learning to persevere.

And perhaps, one day, I will be mature and complete, lacking nothing.
