Wednesdays in the Word–The Lamb of God

Wednesdays in the Word

The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! John 1:29 ESV

This is one of my favorite passages of Scripture. John the Baptist sees his cousin and recognizes Him for who He is. Not only does he recognize Him, but he announces it to all those within earshot…

My nineteen year old mentioned to me today what a privilege it was, in Jewish tradition, to be the person chosen to carry the sacrificial lamb to the temple…

The Lamb of God…

He reminded me that Mary had been chosen to carry this Lamb, the Lamb of God… The once and for all sacrifice that would take away the sin of the world.

What a privilege… What a Savior…

I pray you’ll take the time during this Christmas season to reflect on the precious Savior that was born so many years ago with no other purpose than to bring glory to the Father by dying for you and me.

And maybe, like John, you’ll announce it to all those within earshot…
